6D5N in Taipei - Part 3 Shi Ling Night Market

Hi all, it time to share with you all for my first meal in Taipei.

We decided to go to Shi Ling night market by MRT. On the way walking to the MRT from our hotel, we get attracted by this funny "guy" which sitting right in front of a coffee shop. we notice that this shop only sell coffee and that's all - Coffee only they sell. It does not like other cafe also have different kind of foods in their shop as well. Not only this "little guy" attracted us, the coffee smell very good as well but unfortunately we rushing to Shi Ling to fill up our empty stomach.

A little guy enjoying his coffee

Once we had reached the night market, I feel like it was totally different from the TV show from my home town..... at the show the night market in Taiwan was like full of stalls that along the road and this is what we saw once we entered the into it. We thought we still way to go to reach the "actual" night market instead of shops along the road so we just keep walking and walking.

Finally, we found some stalls on the road side and we totally hungry and just simply order some of the food nearby and started "injecting" food into our mouth. This is what we had at first - "Mian Xian" it located just right in front of the temple and it taste really good and I never had this taste in my country before at all. After we had finish it, we only notice this stall are actually being interviewed by the local newspaper.

One funny thing happened was, we were like typical tourist and bring out the "bible of Taipei" and try to look for more nice food nearby and the owner of the stalls saw us did that and come over offering her favor to answer us all the quires that appear in our head. After her explanations and recommendations, we finally know that all the existing famous stalls were relocated into the basement hawker center.

While walking to the famous hawker center, the other smell had attracted us again and "drag" us to his stall....

This food was called "da chang bao xiao chang" which direct translation will be "Small sausage in Big sausage". It actually were made by the Taiwan sausage which covered by the sticky rice and the out look after the sticky rice covered the sausage it look like big sausage too and that's how the name came from.

Ok, here we are, the typical hawker center. I think it should be same look for all the Chinese hawker center will be around the world. but it really pack-up in here.

In here, we are really like blur out already due to too many food in front of our eyes and our saliva are  keep coming out from out mouths....

The "Lu Rou Fan" - a bowl of rice that covered with the source of braised pork and it only cost us 25NT!! This is the cheapest meal that I can get in Taipei... if you feel don't appetite for eating, then you should try at least 1 spoon for it!! For sure it will bring your appetite for it!!!

Super tasty rice in Taiwan

When you feel our stomach is going to full then you should stop eating the rest of the thing and try this desert that highly recommended by the "bible" - Mango Ice.

I had notice that the ice they are using are really soft and doesn't look like the normal ice cube that usually using in our place. So my curiosity has made me to peeping around the store to look for the reason why the ice is so soft and tasty. And I had found that when other guest order the different flavor of the ice bowl, the will change the ice which is that flavor that same with the fruits. Like Mango ice, they will use the mango ice cube to make the ice and then only cut the mango fruits into it and if you ordered the strawberry ice, they will take off the previous ice cube and change to strawberry ice cube to make the ice. So I found this is really special that they might using the fruits to make some sort of yogurt ice for the ice cube. So try yourself when you are there!!! and tell me what kind of ingredients they use if you are the expert for desert!!

Before we get our tired body back to the hotel from the market, we found this funny "big bird" stall that selling "Da Diao" - Big bird desert but so sorry that our small stomach the can't really fill in anymore. So we just took the photo and hope you guys can share with me how the taste look like.

Hope you guys like it and stay tune for more info for trip in Taipei!!
